PALTmed is a fully remote organization with staff in seven different states.

The Finance and Compliance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational strength of PALTmed and its Foundation. This position oversees day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll coordination, and employee benefits administration. This role requires a hands-on financial leader who is comfortable operating both strategically and tactically in a remote nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for staff, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Serve as primary liaison to the outsourced accounting firm and coordinate the annual audit process.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with the Executive Director and Finance Committee.
Develop and monitor program, project, and operational budgets in partnership with budget owners.
Prepare financial forecasts and variance analyses with clear recommendations.
Financial Operations & Compliance
Monitor cash flow, manage reserves, and oversee banking and investment accounts.
Track restricted grants and donor-designated funds; ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Collaborate with staff to reconcile membership dues, chapter reporting, and meeting-related revenue.
Manage bimonthly payroll in a third-party platform, including validation of hours, bonuses, and deductions.
Organizational Leadership
Develop and refine financial policies, internal controls, and operational processes.
Train staff on financial procedures and promote a culture of transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
Five or more years of progressive nonprofit or association finance experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting, including restricted funds management.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote environment.
