Position Summary
The Office of Student Support and Accountability (OSSA) centers care, equity, integrity, and learning in processes that emphasize the importance of working with students and the community. OSSA's work includes student and organizational conduct, academic integrity, care and intervention, conflict resolution, medical amnesty, and medical leave and return.?
We are seeking a Hazing Prevention Education Coordinator to manage compliance with federal, state, and university policies and requirements under the Stop Campus Hazing Act. An ideal candidate has a passion for interpersonal violence prevention programming combined with excellent oral and written communication skills, detail orientation, and experience both working with students, faculty, and staff and navigating institutional structures.?

The Hazing Prevention Education Coordinator reports to an Assistant Director within OSSA
This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three days in-office per week during the academic year. Additional in-office days may be required depending on operational needs, meetings, and/or key deadlines.
Job responsibilities:
Hazing Prevention Education & Programming
Design and implement a comprehensive, multi-year hazing prevention curriculum for students, staff, faculty, and volunteers.
Devise targeted education addressing conduct violations for individuals and/or student groups that address root cause issues to prevent future harm where possible.
Align hazing prevention efforts with broader university education and wellness goals.
Make available hazing prevention education to external stakeholders such as parents, guardians, and alumni.
Develop and maintain a public-facing website offering prevention resources and training.
Resource Development & Outreach
Create and maintain accessible hazing prevention education resources, including policies, guidelines, and reporting information.
Consult with students, faculty, staff, families, and community members on hazing prevention education and response procedures.
Serve as the university’s subject-matter expert and main point of contact for hazing prevention education-related inquiries.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong partnerships with campus departments including Fraternity and Sorority Life, MSU Department of Police and Public Safety, Athletics, Student Life, Human Resources, Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs, and others.
Collaborate with campus experts on related prevention areas such as sexual misconduct, discrimination, and substance use.
Serve on university, divisional, and national committees to advance hazing prevention and compliance efforts.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure institutional compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, Jeanne Clery Act, and other relevant regulations.
If applicable, manage the online hazing prevention education online education module(s). Serve as primary point of contact for the University.
Provide training on regulatory requirements and consult on complex compliance issues.
Maintain accurate compliance records, logs, and databases.
Prepare and submit timely reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.
Incident Response & Case Consultation
Respond to hazing incidents as appropriate in coordination with campus partners, offering educational sanctioning and support to affected individuals.
Refer cases to the Office of Title IX Education and Compliance and MSU Department of Police and Public Safety when applicable.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when managing sensitive information.
Advise on accountability measures that support prevention goals and address student conduct.
Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
Conduct ongoing assessments of hazing prevention education initiatives, using data to guide program enhancements.
Contribute to strategic planning efforts within the Office of Student Support & Accountability.
Promote a trauma-informed approach that reflects the needs of the MSU community.
Participate in broader office and institutional assessment processes to ensure effectiveness and fairness.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a related field of study such as Student Affairs Administration, Developmental Psychology, Social Work, Training and Development or Counselor Education; three to five years’ experience in student conduct, fraternity and sorority life, student organizations, interpersonal violence prevention or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with:
· Hazing or interpersonal violence prevention programming.
· Training development and delivery.
· Electronic case management systems (e.g., Advocate).
· Navigating complex institutional structures.
· Supporting students and families in crisis using trauma-informed care.
· Working with graduate student populations.
· Working with faculty, staff, and alumni populations.
· Strong administrative, oral, and written communication skills.
· Certifications or training in areas such as Mental Health First Aid, suicide prevention, de-escalation, threat assessment, restorative justice, bystander intervention, or active listening.
