The role of the Transplant Data Analyst is to provide routine analysis and data collection of transplant patient hospital admissions and complications for the Transplant Center Continuous Quality Improvement process. This position reads, interprets and applies specific transplant federal regulations according to UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) and CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) mandates. This position performs daily electronic transactions for the national transplant wait list in the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) system for new patient listings, timely patient removals and other requested status changes. This position is also responsible for the ongoing collection and analysis of transplant volume statistics with reporting responsibilities to transplant leadership and outside agencies. This position reports to the Data Operations Supervisor.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
2 years' experience in related field
Prior experience with preparation for regulatory audits.
Prior experience in the review and abstraction of clinical data from hospital medical records.
Experienced level analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to identify problems and/or discrepancies and implement solutions.
Ability to analyze data from a variety of sources and present information in an understandable and appropriate format.
Working knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and medical procedures sufficient to perform medical chart reviews for collection of transplant information and transplant complications.
College level understanding and working knowledge of medical terminology to understand and interpret medical documentation and procedures.
Ability to work independently, establish priorities and meet required deadlines according to federal regulations and/or department protocols.
Detail oriented with ability to recognize and analyze discrepancies and make appropriate corrections.
Excellent oral and written communicaiton skills necessary for participation in department CQI meetings, federally mandated transplant audits (UNOS and CMS) and cummunicaiton with transplant faculty and clinical team.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of individuals, including co-workers, patients, families, physicians and other outside agencies.
Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office in order to create forms and create/or maintain Excel spreadsheets, create charts, prepare data for presentations and maintain department lists or meeting minutes.
Ability to recognize the need for confidentiality and perform all duties with professionalism.
Excellent attendance.

Department Overview
The Transplant Center is a UCDHS clinical center responsible for the centralized administrative management and coordination of pre and post-transplant patient care to UCDHS patients requiring an organ transplant. This centralized office also includes the management of our outpatient clinic located in the Cypress Building.
